Exploration & Production
In Oman, we produce oil in Block 6 (4%), as well as LNG through our participation in the Oman LNG (5.54%)/Qalhat LNG (2.04% via Oman LNG) liquefaction complex with an overall capacity of 11.4 Mt/y.
In 2021, we signed a concession agreement to develop natural gas resources on onshore Block 10 (26.55%), and in 2022 we signed an exploration and production sharing contract for Block 11 (22.5%). We also operate exploration Block 12 (80%).
In 2024, we signed the Final Investment Decision (FID) for the Marsa LNG project in joint venture with OQ, the national oil company (TotalEnergies 80%, OQ 20%).
Renewables & electricity
In 2022, we signed an agreement with Veolia to start construction of the largest solar photovoltaic project to provide power to a seawater desalination plant in the city of Sur. This 17 megawatts-peak (MWp) power plant is located on the site of the Sharqiyah Desalination plant. It produces over 30 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of green electricity a year, or more than a third of the desalination plant's daily consumption, enabling it to avoid close to 300,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
In 2024, we signed agreements with OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE) to develop 300 MW of renewable energy projects in the country:
- North Solar, a 100 MW solar project at Saih Nihaydah in northern Oman;
- Riyah-1 and Riyah-2, two 100 MW wind power projects located on the Amin and West Nimr fields in southern Oman.
These projects will generate more than 1.4 TWh of renewable electricity per year, which will be delivered to Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) through long-term supply contracts (PPA).
