09/25/2023

From Bilbao to Paris, and Barcelona to Madrid, Team TotalEnergies spent the summer pedaling along the roads of Spain and France during two of the world's most prestigious cycling races. The highlight was a superb victory on stage 7 of the Tour of Spain. Read on for a look back at a period when the Team seized its opportunities to showcase its values and energy.

What with the Tour de France in July and the Vuelta in September, it was a busy summer for Team TotalEnergies, racking up more than 7,500 kilometers along the roads of Spain and France. Between a stage win, top 10 finishes during the legendary stages and breakaways at the front of the race, our riders once again went the extra mile to proudly wear the Team's colors.

Tour de France: our riders put on a show during the breakaways

Our eight riders (Peter Sagan, Edvald Boasson-Hagen, Steff Cras, Pierre Latour, Anthony Turgis, Matthieu Burgaudeau, Valentin Ferron and Daniel Oss) managed to power their way to the front of the pack almost every day and battle it out with the favorites.

A special mention goes to puncher Mathieu Burgaudeau, who finished second on stage 12 in Belleville-en-Beaujolais, and then third on stage 15. Pierre Latour also stood out by grabbing second place at the summit of the Puy de Dôme, a legendary climb that has earned its place in the Tour de France's history books. Peter Sagan, our three-time world champion rider, reached 11th place in the final sprint along the Champs-Élysées as he bade farewell to the Tour, with a career featuring 11 stage wins in the world's most prestigious race.

Vuelta: stage win and 7th place in the team rankings, marking a successful race for Team TotalEnergies

In Spain, eight riders (Thomas Bonnet, Steff Cras, Fabien Doubey, Alan Jousseaume, Pierre Latour, Paul Ourselin, Geoffrey Soupe and Dries Van Gestel) lined up at the start of the Vuelta in Barcelona. Every day, our riders could be found among the frontrunners and came away with 10 first places over the whole race, including a victory on stage 7 on September 1.

As a perfect illustration of the Team's success, Geoffrey Soupe won the sprint between Utiel and Oliva, which gave the Team its first victory in the Tour of Spain since 2016. In addition to the individual stages, our Belgian rider Steff Cras finished the race in 11th place overall and took on the favorites every day to achieve this tremendous position.

All these results mean that Team TotalEnergies finished in 7th place in the team rankings, thereby ending the stage race season on a high.
