TotalEnergies’ Offshore Wind Power Portfolio Worldwide at the End of 2022

01/16/2023

With its low greenhouse gas emissions, wind power is a solution for the future. As part of its ambition to be a major player in the energy transition, TotalEnergies is expanding its offshore wind portfolio worldwide.

TotalEnergies

Our offshore wind power portfolio features 11 gigawatts (GW) of projects that are currently under development, under construction or in production.

Breakdown in projects by technology

75% of our portfolio corresponds to fixed-bottom offshore wind power projects, while the remaining 25% relates to floating offshore wind power projects.

Location of our projects

Our six projects in Europe

  • Erebus, a pioneering floating wind power project in the United Kingdom, was launched in the Celtic Sea (Wales) in March 2020 with a production capacity of 96 MW. The windfarm is due to start production in 2027.
  • The Valorous floating offshore wind power project was also launched in the Celtic Sea (Wales) in March 2020 with a production capacity of 300 MW. The windfarm is expected to be commissioned after 2030.
  • The Seagreen fixed-bottom offshore wind power project off the Scottish coast (UK) was launched in June 2020 with a production capacity of 1.14 GW, meaning that it is the largest offshore windfarm in Scotland. Production started in August 2022.
  • The EolMed project was launched in partnership with Qair off the coast of Port-la-Nouvelle in the Mediterranean Sea (France) in October 2020 with a production capacity of 30 MW. EolMed is helping accelerate the development of the floating wind power technology. Production started in 2022.
  • The Outer Dowsing fixed-bottom offshore wind power project off the Lincolnshire coast (UK) was launched as part of a joint venture with GIG in February 2021 with a production capacity of 1.5 GW.
  • The West of Orkney fixed-bottom offshore wind power project off the west coast of Scotland's Orkney Islands (UK) was launched in January 2022 in partnership with GIG and RIDG. Featuring a production capacity of 2 GW, it is TotalEnergies' largest renewable energy project in Europe to date. Production is expected to start in 2030.

Our two projects in the United States

  • The New York Bight fixed-bottom offshore wind power project off the New York and New Jersey coast was launched in February 2022 in partnership with EnBW. Featuring a production capacity of 3 GW, it is TotalEnergies' largest renewable energy project to date. The windfarm is due to start production in 2028.
  • The North Carolina fixed-bottom offshore wind power project in the Carolina Long Bay was launched in May 2022 and is due to start production in 2029. Its 1 GW production capacity is equivalent to the consumption of over 300,000 US households.

Our two projects in Asia

  • The Bada floating offshore wind power project in South Korea was launched in partnership with GIG in September 2020 with a potential production capacity of over 2 GW. Production is expected to start late 2023.
  • The Yunlin fixed-bottom offshore wind power project off the Taiwanese coast was launched in partnership with wpd in April 2021 with a production capacity of 640 megawatts (MW). Production started in November 2021.
