Tyra’s removal campaign in video

[TYRA REDEVELOPMENT – REMOVAL CAMPAIGN – SUMMER 2020]

Morten Hesselager Pedersen: This has been an amazing summer. Everything essentially peaked during just a couple of months. We spent more than five years preparing and planning this.

Jens Kloster: Tyra redevelopment includes a removal phase where we remove 50,000 tons of steel, equivalent to seven Eiffel Towers.

Morten Hesselager Pedersen: We carried out two different phases: phase one was all around precision, and the second phase was all around horsepower.

[PHASE ONE: PRECISION]

Morten Hesselager Pedersen: The Sleipnir campaign was incredible, we were out there for a month. The sun was shining, the sea was dead flat. We did 20 lifts. The main objective was to remove the wellhead and riser platforms. We had to protect the existing assets, the jackets and wells, such that we can reuse them in the future.

[PHASE TWO: HORSEPOWER]

Morten Hesselager Pedersen: Pioneering Spirit campaign was two main lifts. The first one was the main topsides on Tyra East. 14,000 tons, around two Eiffel Towers. Pioneering Spirit lifted Tyra East in just twelve seconds. The sheer size and the capabilities of this vessel – it’s just amazing. On Tyra West, 7,800 tons, just a bit more than one Eiffel Tower – also lifted in just seconds. These are the biggest modules, more than three Eiffel Towers, removed in just two lifts.

Jens Kloster: With this milestone where the removal is complete, we will now start focusing hard on the installation campaign which kicks off next year.

Morten Hesselager Pedersen: I’m incredibly proud of the team. What they have done is writing Danish history and the way they have worked together has been just outstanding. Still some way to go, no room for complacency, but we are certainly in a good position and on the way to win.
