In France, we are a major producer and supplier of energy and related services. We are involved in regional development in our host regions through TotalEnergies Direction France. We lead and finance philanthropy initiatives within the communities where we operate through our TotalEnergies Corporate Foundation, which focuses on young people, especially the most vulnerable.

More energies
Renewables & electricity
We are a major producer of renewable electricity in France (solar, wind and hydropower). We are also developing distributed solar production solutions, especially agrivoltaics. In addition, we produce electricity from natural gas through our portfolio of combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plants.
Our affiliate Saft, which specializes in manufacturing industrial batteries, operates three plants in France. We also operate several battery-based energy storage (BESS) units in France, comprising lithium-ion battery containers designed and assembled by Saft. Through Saft, we are also a founding member of Automotive Cells Company (ACC), a global player in manufacturing batteries for the automotive industry, which operates a gigafactory in the Hauts-de-France region.
Gas & green gas
In France, we produce biomethane and biogas. We are the leading French player in the sector in terms of installed capacity.
We also have regasification capacity at the Fos Cavaou, Dunkirk and Montoir-de-Bretagne terminals, as well as at the Cape Ann floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Le Havre.
In terms of hydrogen, we created a joint venture with Air Liquide in 2023 to develop a network of more than 100 hydrogen stations for heavy duty vehicles along major roads in Europe under the TotalEnergies brand. Together with ENGIE, we are developing the Masshylia project to produce renewable hydrogen, located at our La Mède biorefinery.
Refining & Chemicals
We operate three of the six refineries in France: the Normandy complex, the Donges refinery and the Feyzin complex. As a producer of road and aviation biofuels, we operate the La Mède biorefinery and we are currently transforming our Grandpuits site into a zero-crude platform. We also operate a special fluids plant in Oudalle.
As part of our petrochemicals business, we operate the Carling Saint-Avold complex, the Company’s European center for hydrocarbon resins, and we are shareholders in the Lavéra platform.
As part of our mechanical plastics recycling activities, our affiliate Synova operates two sites in France.
Finally, our affiliate Hutchinson operates 26 production sites in France, as well as a research and innovation center.

In France, we have strengthened our position as a day-to-day partner for our residential, business and public authority customers with a wide range of products and services, including:
- retail of domestic and industrial heating oils and fuels;
- our network of more than 3,000 service stations (including AS24 stations for heavy duty vehicles), some of which are solarized and/or equipped with fast and ultra-fast electric charge points, particularly across the freeway network; we also operate a network of natural gas vehicle (NGV) stations;
- supply of mobility solutions for business customers;
- retail of automotive lubricants;
- supply of heating products and services for the home; and
- supply of energy efficiency solutions for mobility and buildings.
Gas and Power
We supply natural gas and electricity to our residential and business customers in France. We can also install charge points for electric vehicles.
